WordCamp Udaipur is announcing the Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship, a meaningful initiative dedicated to honoring the memory of Puneet Sahalot. This scholarship program has been established to support WordPress enthusiasts who wish to attend WordCamp Udaipur but may face financial constraints. Let us take a moment to introduce the man behind the name – Puneet Sahalot.

Who Was Puneet Sahalot?

Puneet Sahalot, a name that resonates deeply within the WordPress community, was more than just a community member. He was a talented entrepreneur, a visionary thinker, an epitome of humility, a mentor, and a guiding light to many in the WordPress industry and beyond. Puneet founded IdeaBox Creations in 2012 as a one-man show in Udaipur and introduced the WordPress culture in a tier III city in Rajasthan, India. 

He also laid the foundation for the Udaipur WordPress Meetup group and played a pivotal role in helping numerous WordPress enthusiasts grow both personally and professionally. His untimely passing in 2021 left a void that is still felt by many.

About the Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship:

In honor of Puneet’s contributions to the WordPress community and to keep his legacy alive, WordCamp Udaipur has decided to allocate 2 full-fledged event tickets as scholarships. These scholarships are intended for individuals who aspire to participate in WordCamp Udaipur but face financial barriers.

Scholarship Details:

• A total of 2 recipients will be chosen to receive the Puneet Sahalot Scholarship.
• For recipients traveling from outside the host city, the scholarship will cover the cost of the event ticket, return train ticket fare, and a two-night stay at a standard hotel.
• Recipients residing in Udaipur will only receive event tickets.
• The scholarship will be awarded by the WordCamp Udaipur 2023 team with financial support from a few anonymous WordPress community members.

Selection criteria will be based on the applicant’s involvement as a WordPress contributor or their interest in WordPress, as well as their financial need. Additionally, only individuals who have never attended WordCamp Udaipur will be eligible.

What Is Covered?

• Attendees from outside Udaipur will receive return train tickets and accommodation for two nights at a standard hotel.
• Access to all events during WordCamp Udaipur.
• Individuals from Udaipur will only receive complimentary event tickets.
• The final decision for scholarship recipients will be made by the WordCamp Udaipur 2023 team.
